Does Apple Watch 6 support streaming Spotify music directly without an ‌iPhone‌ connection? Sorry, the answer is still no. But Spotify is now testing direct Apple Watch streaming for select users. However, there is still no news on storing a playlist locally for offline listening. - read more

Hello, i have been using Spotify on my iPad and PC for a couple of months and i am impressed by the app. However I recently got an iPhone 7 Plus and installed Spotify there too, but the sound quality was noticeably worse that it was on my iPad. The music playback just sounds worse on the iPhone and there is distortion as well. Step 1: Open Apple Music app and select Menu Settings. Step 2: Go to Playback and tap both Use Cellular Data and High Quality on Cellular to on (green). After that, you can change stream quality from default to high-quality.

Spotify officially released its Apple Watch app on Nov 13, 2018. With this new app, users can enjoy an improved experience with better control and the ability to seamlessly connect to your speakers or devices.

Spotify’s first Apple Watch version includes the ability to access and control your favorite Spotify music and podcasts from wrist, and control how music is played to compatible Spotify Connect devices. But one important feature is missing: you can't store Spotify music locally on your wrist for offline listening.

The lack of offline playback may disappoint you. It means you still can't go for a run with just Bluetooth headphones and leave iPhone at home. Spotify is promising that offline playback support is coming in the future, however, it's not achieved. Unfortunately, it's a similar story for Apple Watch LTE owners with a data contract who were hoping to stream Spotify music directly from their wrist for listening on a pair of connected Bluetooth headphones. Currently the ability to do this doesn't exist in the Spotify app and there's a good chance it never will, since Apple's API for watchOS 5 doesn't permit third-party apps to use direct cellular or Wi-Fi streaming.

It's no secret that Apple Music streams songs at excellent and high-fidelity sound quality, but chances are you're not getting the highest music quality from Apple Music due to the default playback setting on the music app.

Sometimes you may notice that the music doesn't sound as good as it should be, and you can easily tell the difference even if you are not using the high-end audio equipment like high-res headphones or hi-re music player. If that's the case, you should probably check if the 'High Quality Streaming' option is enabled in the music setting. It's a hidden feature which will not be activated when you are streaming music with your mobile cellular data.

Don't worry, this article aims at guiding you how to improve Apple Music sound quality with easiest tricks, so that you can always be able to listen to music at high resolution level.

What Quality Does Apple Music Stream?

Apple Music uses the AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) format encoded at 256 Kbps, with the sample rate of 44.1 kHz, which sounds as awesome as the near-CD quality.

But if you are listening to music under different network connections, you will get different sound quality correspondently.

  1. Playing from Wi-Fi connection: Apple Music streams its tracks at 256 Kbps AAC, which is the highest quality available.

  2. Playing from cellular data: Apple Music streams tunes at a lower quality bitrate (128 Kbps AAC) by default to reduce data usage on your mobile device.

There's no option for you to adjust music quality in iTunes for macOS or Windows because Apple Music uses AAC with up to 256 Kbps by default.

However, when it comes to iDevice or Android device, you can manually enable the High-quality Streaming features which allows you to get the best sound quality even when you're using cellular network. But activating this feature will use more mobile data and may takes longer for the songs to start playing.

So, if you have an unlimited data plan or don't care much about your cell phone bill, then follow the tutorials below to play high fidelity Apple Music all the time.

For iOS users, Apple Music app has a built-in equalizer which provides you with different EQ presets including Acoustic, Classical, Dance, Deep, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Latin, Bass Booster, Piano, Pop, R&B, Rock and many more. You can make your Apple Music sound different by choose the presets you like.

Tips: Some of you may be not satisfied with the sound effects offered by Apple Music's default equalizer, if that so, you can always look for other powerful Apple Music equalizers that can provide more find-tuned presets and customizable features.
