BARCELONA — Spotify is coming to Ford Sync AppLink in Europe and the United States.
- I recently got a new 2017 Ford Focus that has Sync3 and the app connection with Spotify can be patchy. I paired my phone (Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo) with the car and the car found Spotify in the apps, all good. Now, sometimes when I switch the car on, Spotify is found in the app list and other times no apps are found at all!
- 'Spotify is a terrific addition to the SYNC AppLink ecosystem helping add even more value to the experience of driving a Ford for both new and existing customers,' said Paul Mascarenas, chief.
Ford and Spotify are making the announcement at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. In Europe, Spotify will be coming to the Ford EcoSport later this year.
Ford launched its Ford Developer Program at CES 2013 and in the first four weeks attracted more than 2,500 registered users.
Ford Sync AppLink — which lets smartphone apps integrate directly into the Ford Sync experience — is already on over 1 million cars in the United Staes. Now the company is focusing on bringing that same experience to European cars.
Bringing Spotify to the car is a big coup for Ford. Although the music subscription service has already come to certain Volvo vehicles, this is the first time that Spotify has worked directly with an automotive manufacturer.
Ford's Sync AppLink integration with Spotify takes advantage of voice activation, making it safe and convenient.
Spotify will make its way to AppLink in the U.S. in the coming weeks.

Here are some ways to play Spotify in the car:
Note: Some cars require Spotify Premium.
Many car media systems offer a Spotify app built into the stereo. Check out Spotify Everywhere to see which ones.
Don’t worry if your car’s not listed, you can check with the manufacturer, and there are plenty of other ways to play in the car listed below.
Go wireless and play Spotify on Bluetooth supported car stereos.

Car view
When you connect your phone to your car’s Bluetooth, car view automatically turns on.
You see larger, driver-friendly icons in the Now Playing view, and you can quickly change what plays with Choose Music at the bottom of the screen.
Add Spotify App Ford Sync App
To disable Car view:
- Tap Home .
- Tap Settings .
- Under Car, switch Carview off.
You may be able to use an AUX or USB cable to directly connect your mobile or tablet to your car.
